Portpatrick is a popular tourist spot and has many great restaurants and bars and many are dog friendly. There are gift shops, a post office and general store and the RNLI shop to visit whilst in the village.
The Southern Upland coast to coast walk starts from Portpatrick and there are stunning views across the village from the cliff top path. From the village you can also walk up the steps in the cliff side and across a narrow bridge to visit Dunskey Castle, a ruined 12th century tower house. The views across the sea and Portpatrick are amazing from this point.
The popular RNLI Portpatrick Lifeboat week is an annual event in the village.
In the Rhins of Galloway you have Scotland’s most southerly point and a Lighthouse you can climb. There are stunning Rhins of Galloway gardens to visit with lush tropical plants and trees which thrive in the warm air from the Gulf Stream.
We have stunning beaches and miles of coastline to explore and enjoy. An abundance of wildlife can be seen in the Rhins of Galloway and from the doorstep at Kirklauchline Cottage.
