Larbrax Beach

Larbrax Beach, Portpatrick, Rhins of GallowayThere are so many Galloway beaches to explore whilst on your holiday at Kirklauchline Cottage. Whatever the weather there’s no better time than to head to the beach and explore. Our favourite beaches are highlighted on a map we leave inside the cottage for all our guests to use whilst exploring the Rhins of Galloway.

One of our favourites is Larbrax Beach (Broadsea Bay) is a short drive from Portpatrick. On the approach the initial part of the track down to the beach is quite smooth passing through open countryside. It then becomes quite bumpy so care does need to be taken. When the tide is out there is a wonderful stretch of golden sand and rocky outcrops to walk on. You can see Killantringan Lighthouse from the bay and see right across to the Irish coast with the ferries back and forth from Belfast and Larne. Our dog loves this beach and we often have it all to ourselves.

After a refreshing walk on the beach what better way to finish off a perfect afternoon than to have a lovely ice cold drink in Portpatrick – sitting on the sea front watching the world go by. Cheers folks!
